V

Did anyone watch V last night? I did. I was excited for it because I remember a lot from the original series and think it can be done way better now.

But the big thing that stuck out to me was that the Visitors are going to provide free health care to all everyone on Earth. So in case you were wondering, Obama is a Visitor and underneath his human skin, he is actually a lizard waiting to steal your water and harvest your body organs.

24: Season 8

The Season 8 Trailer was posted today. Jack's Granddaughter calls him 'Jack', totally appropriate. Warning, this will make you excited for the new season of 24 and it is still 79 days away.

Jack Bauer

I can't believe Jack or Chloe didn't see that coming.  I also can't believe they aren't using Morris "stay at home daddy" O'Brien in their operation.

I am glad to see that Aaron Peirce is back in his full bad assery going to pick up the first daughter, but I wonder what is happening with Ms. Logan.  Are they still dating?  Does everyone still hate President Logan for killing Palmer?

Where is Tony in all this? I know he was going to do something because he didn't want to be at the White House for fear of being arrested for the "bad things he has done".

Music Videos:

I don't get people that watch music videos.  Am I the only one that thinks they are totally uninteresting?

24

I am now caught up with 24. I am looking forward to the next episode.

Still behind on Scrubs and the Office.

1.28.2009

24

I am behind by 2 episodes now. The only time I can really watch it is early in the morning and while I have been waking up early lately, it hasn't been to get up an watch American television.

I am excited to see what has happened over the last two hours.

Boxee

Pretty cool program. I might have to get an Apple TV at some point so I can use it on my television.

I will certainly use it to watch a lot of my HULU programming and maybe a few other shows.

Hulu

I just wanted to let you know that it is unlikely that I am going to follow your instructions just to see advertisements. I would prefer 30 seconds of silence to ads.

The Office

I just finished up watching the first and second season of The Office from the UK. It isn't as blatantly funny as the US version, but I think that is because I am not English. I laughed quite a bit, but I am certain I missed some things to.

My favorite part of the UK series was Tim (Jim's character). His looks to the camera were really good, and while Jim does it on the US version, I think Tim's were far better.

What I like about the US version better is that you get a far more character's interacting. In the UK version, you really only see David, Tim, Dawn, and Gareth (equivalent to Michael, Jim, Pam, and Dwight).

Gareth is a much more believable character than Dwight mostly because he isn't so extreme. Dwight is so far out there sometimes that you can hardly believe that he functions in normal society. Gareth is just a jerk.

I wouldn't say this is a must, but if you have access to it, watch it sometime and see what you think.

Bones Crime House Scene Investigation

How many of these shows could there possibly be. They are all basically the same, but take place in different locations.

CSI, CSI NY, CSI Miami, Bones (CSI DC), House (CSI NJ), and NCIS (CSI Navy).

The best of all of them is House which I love because somehow the doctors investigate their patients houses, sometimes without permission.

CSI Miami is pretty good because David Caruso is a master at over acting and drama, also he is the kind of cop that makes a quippy remark after something happens, like a Baseball Umpire gets shot and he says, "Now who's out?"

CSI New York is actually kind of lame because all of the characters boring and totally uninteresting.

Bones is great because for some reason, an anthropoligist carries a gun. On top of that, other lead character is shown as an individual in the FBI by wearing crazy socks and belt buckles that say things like, "I'm the Shiz".

CSI is the most boring of all of them because it was the first to market and is most mundane of all of them.

NCIS is again not very interesting.

I think all of these shows ruin the chances of a show like Studio 60 making it big because if one of them is popular, they are all popular and that takes away from space to put on shows that are actually good.

A New Hope

A few things I noticed in watching Episode IV today.

1. If the Imperial Solider had just shot the escape pod down, containing R2D2 and C-3P0, then the events of IV, V, and VI would not have occurred. Do you think the Emperor or Darth Vader ever think about that? Do you think he and his superior officer were punished for not having shot it down?

2. Luke first ignites the light saber, in Obi Wan's hut, directly at Obi Wan. A few degrees more and it would have gone straight through Obi Wan thus negating any training he could have given Luke.

High Definition, Do I Like It?

I am not totally sure I do. So far it seems to make television shows look like they have cheap production. I notice camera movement more than I typically have ever, and some people just don't have a face for television.

I will say it is really nice when you are watching a movie, but for television shows, I might say leave it alone.

The Internet . . . or Lack There of

So I set out to get hooked up for television and internet on Thursday night as I didn't want to live without it long. Here you go into a store and pay them and they come set it up at there convenience. I was super happy about it, but that is how it is. So I went in and filled out the application form and as I turned it in, they told me that Diamond 5 does not have internet or television access yet. I questioned this as I was told it was ready to go when I moved in, and they confirmed it, but . . .

they did tell me that the Diamond 4 has access. I replied thank you but I live in Diamond 5, so access in another building doesn't really help.

I proceeded to stop by another store and asked them about access. They told me that they have television access, but not internet access yet. So I filled out the tv application form, and when I finished found out that this guy had just saved me about 50 dollars a month. He wasn't interested in taking my money, he was interested in making sure I had what I wanted. He also took my number and told me he would call when the Diamond 5 had internet access.

As of today my television is install and for now I am stuck coming to Starbucks whenever I want to use the internet while at home.

I put some new pictures up, and was really impressed with the speed at which it uploaded. I hope my connection is that good when I have it installed at home.

Why...

Do they have to do stuff like this 8 months before the season starts?

UPDATE: Though the season will not start until January 2009, the producers of the show have conceded that there has been too much time between seasons and are producing a 2 hour television movie that will air some time in the Winter of 2008 that will take the viewer from the last minutes of the last season to the first minutes of the new season. It takes place in the year and a half between seasons.

Television

Thought I would publish twice today and let everyone know that TV hear is not great. They are a couple of movie stations that play good movies, but the other networks are shows that are a couple of years old. Though some of the shows are things that I want to watch now.

2008

This year I should be heading off to work overseas and that excites me. I am hoping to keep the site updated even more frequently than I did this year, especially while I am not in the country. I am pretty excited about things coming up in 2008.

Besides the possibility of going to work outside of the US, I also have a wedding to go to (hopefully), a nephew for whom I will be the godfather of, heading to Chicago in January for this, and a nephew that is going to be born sometime in February. And that is all in the first quarter of the year.

I was excited about 24 coming back for yet another season, but it seems that due to the writers strike, and not Kiefer going to jail, the season will be postponed for a while. Certainly the strike will be resolved at some point and 24, Scrubs, and the Office will come back.

Musically I am looking forward to the new Mike Doughty album, but can't think of much else that is coming out at the moment, certainly there will be some good stuff coming out.

I can't really think of any movies I want to see coming up, though I wish a theater around here would play Juno. Instead they are playing a host of movies I have no interest in, but will go watch anyway because I like movies.

24 - Season 6 DVD

"A mediocre season of 24 is still better than a lot of things on TV."

This is a quote from a review of the DVD set. I liked it, so I shared it.

Since the new season is a long way off due to circumstances beyond my control, I won't have to power through the Season 6 DVDs like I normally due prior to a new season.

What I Will Occupy My Time With...

during the current writers strike.

I really don't see this being too much of a problem for myself, but I read someone else's thoughts on this and decided to offer up my own.

1. I will watch a month worth of television, since I have been subjected to only re-runs of fucking Friendsfor the last 4 weeks, that is stored on my Tivo at home.

2. I will rent movies.

3. I will read books.

4. I will watch sports on the weekends.

5. I will hope that Hockey is brought back into the lineup. This is not so much something that I am going to do as much as it is something I would like to do.

Two Thousand and Eight, Season Seven, Twenty Four

It is October, so that means we just got our first look at the new season of 24. I have to say that I am a little put off by it, but only because they have chosen to bring Tony Almeida back. I am not sure how I feel about it, but have a few suspicions about his activity this season.

Other than that, I am intrigued. Jack finally on trial for torturing his captives and I am not at all surprised by the reactions he has in the preview.

I am excited and still a bit peeved that they put the dang previews out so early for the show, because we still have 2 and a half months before the premier.

Here is a Preview by way of I Watch Stuff if you are interested in watching it.

Prick

I never watched the Sapranos, I was never interested. Today I read that the creator had this to say about people being upset about the finale episode,

"There was a war going on that week, and attempted terror attacks in London," says Chase. "But these people were talking about onion rings."

Hey, Prick, would you prefer that no one watched your show? You should be excited that people were that involved in something you had a hand in.
